MOTTO OF OUR JOURNEY
Serving the Nature and Mankind
Looking to the increasing human-snake conflict situations in the state and lack of a dedicated centre for the reptiles and amphibians, the Sarp Anusandhan Sangthan decided to establish Reptile Conservation & Research Centre in 2004.
It is located at Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Indore Road. The Centre occupies 1.1 hectares of land given on long-term lease by Ujjain Development Authority, Govt. of M. P.

The Centre was primarily designed as an education center to promote knowledge among public on reptiles and amphibians and dispel the widespread erroneous belief about snakes in particular. The Centre successfully organized awareness programs targeting school children, university students and general visitors. After getting permissions from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) of Madhya Pradesh to rescue snakes in the town, a transit facility for the rescued snakes was developed with the kind support of M.P. Council of Science & Technology. and started research including conduction of surveys of herpetofauna of the state, their status and distribution. An auditorium for smooth conduction of various awareness programs, path ways and basic amenities were developed in the Centre by the support of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation during the years of 2013.

ESTABLISHMENT OF
SNAKE INFOTAINMENT PARK
Copper wire, wood base. I created this piece in late 2008. For this work, I aimed to convey both the industrial heaviness of an airplane, but also the cloudlike floating quality you feel when you’re in one.
The last few years have seen some major development at the Centre with new attractions like development of Reptile Infotainment Park, Herpetology Lab & Resource Library and a full fledge Skill Development Centre for various stake holders.
